This way Chinese artist Liu Jianhua can be sure not to loose his currency. I guess that the phrase “the city is built on money” fits well in this context. The cityscape is apparently a replica of Shanghai. I don’t know if gambling is big out there, but my guess is that there is some kind of social or political comment in building a city out of [poker chips and dice](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/another-kingdom). Anyhow it looks as impressive as it is detailed. The Poker chip artwork is part of a [solo exhibition](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eye-of-the-future) by the artist at Galleria Continua in San Gimignano, Italy. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Artistic Replicas:** Opportunity for artists to create unique replicas of cities or landscapes using unconventional materials like poker chips. - **Social Commentary Art:** Opportunity for artists to use their artwork to make social or political comments, as seen in the cityscape made from poker chips and dice. - **Detailed Sculptures:** Opportunity to create highly detailed sculptures using small objects, like the intricate cityscape made from poker chips. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Sculpture:** Opportunity for artists and sculptors to explore new materials and techniques to create innovative and thought-provoking pieces. - **Exhibitions and Galleries:** Opportunity for galleries and exhibition spaces to showcase unique and unconventional artworks, attracting a diverse audience. - **Social Commentary and Activism:** Opportunity for artists to use their work as a means of engaging in social commentary and activism, sparking conversations and raising awareness. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Laser-Cut Urban Artistry](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laser-cut-city-maps.md) - [Interactive Architectural Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-landscape.md) - [Pop Art-Style Blocked Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-in-red.md) - [Luxury Decorative Poker Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luxury-decorative-poker-set.md) - [Board Game-Inspired Show Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pompidou-show.md) - [Architecturally Inspired Chess Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baku-chess-set.md) - [Pointy Paper Lantern Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-lantern-pavilion.md) - [Whimsical Pool-Inspired Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/public-pool-exhibition.md)
