Yesterday Pokémon fans got a big treat courtesy of [Nintendo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-teal-mask)—two new games have been announced—Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, set for a release later this year in November.

The first Ruby and Sapphire Pokémon games were launched way back in 2003 for the [Game Boy Advance](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/analogue-pocket-transparent-limited-editions), but the systems have advanced and Nintendo announced that the games will be exclusively playable on Nintendo 2DS and [3DS](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luigis-mansion-dark-moon) systems.

The two new games will be the 23rd and 24th video game additions to the Pokémon franchise, but even though it seems like a perfect way to conclude the series, literally with an alpha and an omega, Nintendo probably won't pass up an opportunity to round off its releases with a 25th, or continue on from there.
