# Light Levitating Seating The Poh Liang Hok Chair Clutches Table Edges to Allow Easy Cleaning By Vivian Lau | Published 2012-05-31 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poh-liang-hok-chair References: [fastcodesign](http://www.fastcodesign.com/1669895/a-chair-that-cantilevers-off-a-tables-edge-so-you-can-clean-the-floor-beneath) & [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/47406/) Those pesky chair legs that we all try to avoid while sweeping under the table are an age-old problem; a redesign was in order, and the Poh Liang Hok chair has answered the call. This seat has a track installed on its backrest, which allows the plastic seat to roll up along the frame. With the plastic seat raised a couple of inches off its frame, it creates the perfect slot that the table edge can insert into. This innovative design allows chairs to levitate, so their [long limbs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pere-chair) will be out of the way of dutiful floor cleaners. The square frame allows for [easy stackability](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patan-chair) as well. With the potential to make a restaurant's decor look upscaled, it can also be an efficient way to lock up and clean for the night. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 76% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Levitating Furniture:** The concept of levitating furniture opens up opportunities for innovative designs and improved maintenance of spaces. - **Track-based Seating:** Integrating tracks into seating design can allow for flexible and practical maintenance solutions. - **Stackable Seating:** The need for space-efficient seating in public spaces creates opportunities for designers to create stackable, ergonomic, and comfortable seating. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can incorporate track technology and levitating features into their designs to offer practical and modern solutions to consumers. - **Restaurant and Hospitality:** Restaurants and hospitality businesses can invest in stackable and easy-to-maintain seating solutions to improve the user experience and create visually appealing spaces. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can leverage the concept of levitating and track-based seating to create unique and functional space-saving designs for various industries. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Legless Floor Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bold-chair.md) - [Table-Equipped Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/migo-chair.md) - [Storage-Equipped Restaurant Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rack-chair.md) - [Antitheft Storage Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/afford-chair.md) - [Flatpack Ultra-Modular Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebula-chair.md) - [Industrial Light-Equipped Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hidden-light-chair.md) - [Stackable Screw-Free Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-stack-chair.md) - [Cubic Featherlight Seat Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/please-hold-up-chair.md) - [Naturalistic Grass-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-flip-chair.md)
