# Polaroid-Inspired Poetry Cameras The Poetroid Uses AI To Print Poems Similar to a Polaroid By Amy Duong | Published 2024-02-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poetroid References: [yankodesign](https://www.yankodesign.com/2024/02/09/polaroid-inspired-diy-camera-uses-ai-to-print-poems-instead-of-photos/) & [github](https://github.com/sam1am/poetroid) Sam Garfiedl designs the Poetroid, which as the namesake suggests, functions similarly to a [Polaroid](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/now-i2-camera) camera. This is a DIY camera that is inspired by the traditional device but it prints out poems instead of photographs. Notably, it uses AI to generate poems but visually, looks like any other Polaroid camera. It is an impressive design as it can be made from the simplest of components including a single-board computer, a tin box, and a webcam. The AI and other language models run locally on the device itself. This way, it ensures that no private data can leak and offers a level of security. The poems are printed onto [thermal paper](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/project-scribe) and look like a simple receipt.
