# Flexible Measuring Devices The Pocket Smart String Makes Measuring Odd Objects Easier By Michael Hines | Published 2011-08-19 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocket-smart-string References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/pocket-smart-string-digital-tape-measure/19548/) & [pocketsmartstring](http://www.pocketsmartstring.com/) Pocket Smart String is an awesome new tape measure designed to take the guesswork out of measuring oddly shaped objects. Pocket Smart String uses a retractable string and a [digital display](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lidar) to tell you exactly how wide your orange or apple is. The Pocket Smart String can save their measurements and use the device's [built-in calculator](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocketcalc) to figure out square footage or cubic space. The string in this device measures 50 inches (4'2) and has a break strength of 20 pounds. This tape measure also features a level and an LED light. I'll be the first to admit that 50 inches is short for a tape measure, but this device isn't exactly meant for measuring walls or windows. The Pocket Smart Tape is on sale now for $12. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.6/10 - Popularity: 1% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Inventions](https://www.trendhunter.com/inventions) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Flexible Measuring Devices:** Pocket Smart String is a disruptive innovation opportunity that simplifies measuring odd-shaped objects with its retractable string and digital display feature. ### Who This Affects Most - **Smart Home Appliances:** The Pocket Smart String is a disruptive innovation opportunity within the smart home appliances industry, providing accurate and convenient measuring solutions for homeowners. - **Interior Design:** The Pocket Smart String presents a disruptive innovation opportunity in the interior design industry, offering a practical tool for precise measurements of unconventional objects. - **DIY and Craft:** The Pocket Smart String offers a disruptive innovation opportunity for DIY enthusiasts and crafters, allowing them to measure irregular objects with ease and accuracy. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bluetooth-Connected Tape Measures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/datapro-25.md) - [Next-Gen Connected Tape Measures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-tape-measure.md) - [Rolling Portable Measuring Tapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neorulergo.md) - [Smart Measuring Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hozos-neorulergo.md) - [Digital Laser Tape Measures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-laser.md) - [One-Button Laser Measures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-laser-measure-pro.md) - [Intelligent Laser Tape Measures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hoto-laser-tape-measure.md) - [Magnetic Measuring Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tisolver.md) - [Modular Laser Measure Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-laser-measure.md)
