# Compartmental Counter Tops Plug-In by Maria Perales Provides a Place for Everything By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-04-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plug-in-by-maria-perales References: [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/39830/) & [mapstudio.es](http://www.mapstudio.es/marco-plug-in.html) Some people, myself included, possess the often irritating opinion that everything has its place, though Plug-In by Maria Perales has a delightful disposition that makes the act of tidying up all the more playful. This particular project is composed not only of a clean wooden-top table, but also a cluster of circular incisions and built-in candlesticks and vases. No longer will such objects be considered separate from the surface on which they sit, for this clever designer has served up a new suggestion for how furniture can function as a multifaceted landscape of everyday items. A ceramic hand mirror, an umbrella stand and a candy jar and lid are also incorporated into Plug-In by Maria Perales, and with everything arranged upright, the table still leaves plenty of room for regular use. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 45% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Multifunctional Furniture:** Plug-In by Maria Perales exemplifies an innovative trend of designing furniture that can serve multiple purposes and incorporate storage solutions. - **Integrated Home Decor:** The integration of everyday objects such as vases and candlesticks into furniture exemplified by Plug-In by Maria Perales is a trend that allows homemakers to save space while keeping their homes aesthetically pleasing. - **Playful Home Design:** Plug-In by Maria Perales proves that a playful approach to design can enliven home decor, making even cleaning up a delightful experience. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The incorporation of integrated storage solutions into furniture design showcased by Plug-In by Maria Perales presents furniture manufacturers with an opportunity to appeal to customers seeking modern, innovative and efficient design. - **Home Decor:** The trend towards designing home decor that keeps homes organized while saving space reinforced by Plug-In by Maria Perales presents an opportunity for home decor companies to introduce lines of functional furniture and household items. - **Interior Design:** The playful approach to furniture design introduced by Plug-In by Maria Perales is a trend that interior designers can leverage to deliver unique and functional interior design concepts to their clients. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Compact Functional Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookmarker-table.md) - [Illuminating Home Display Pedestals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/welcome-decor-piece.md) - [Carved Timber Workstation Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/organization-kit.md) - [Playful Storage Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/berto-hidden-secrets.md) - [Interlocking Puzzle-Like Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/connect-table.md) - [Geometric Cutout Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/designated-table.md) - [Dynamic Geometric Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/designated-side-table.md) - [Puzzling Removable Tray Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-puzzle-table.md) - [Wall-Mounted Two-Legged Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/instable-side-table.md)
