Integrated with a [hidden CD slot](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cd-player-concept) on the top portion, the unit draws inspiration from the [first generation console](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playstation-30th-anniversary-collection), while also hiding this functionality in the body to ensure a smooth, futuristic look. This is paired with a stylish body that can be used in either horizontal or vertical orientations just like the previous generations of the console. The conceptual 'PlayStation V' is the design work of Paul Richard Mayer and has also been designed with controllers that can be [wirelessly charged](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sony-game-controller) via the accompanying charging pad. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 91% | Activity: 82% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/games) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Retro-inspired Consoles:** Designing gaming consoles that incorporate nostalgic elements from previous generations to create a sense of familiarity. - **Multi-functional Designs:** Creating gaming consoles with hidden functionalities and versatile body orientations for a futuristic and sleek look. - **Wireless Charging Controllers:** Developing gaming consoles with controllers that can be wirelessly charged for convenient and clutter-free gaming experiences. ### Who This Affects Most - **Gaming Console Manufacturing:** Opportunity for manufacturers to produce retro-inspired gaming consoles that tap into nostalgia and user familiarity. - **Consumer Electronics:** Potential for innovative designs that combine functionality and aesthetics, enhancing the user experience in the gaming industry. - **Wireless Charging Technology:** Growing demand for wireless charging solutions in the gaming industry, driving advancements in wireless charging technology for controllers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Contoured Gaming Console Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playstation-5-console-concept.md) - [Next-Gen Handheld Gamer Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playstation-portable.md) - [Industrial Next-Gen Console Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playstation-6-console-concept.md) - [Angular Next-Gen Gaming Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playstation-6-concept.md) - [Powerful Portable Gaming Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playstation-5-handheld-gaming-console.md) - [Handheld Gaming Console Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playfusion.md) - [Folding All-in-One Entertainment Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playstation-capsule.md) - [Shapeshifting Gamer Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-game-boy-famicon.md) - [Ultra-Compact Gamer Console Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-gaming-console.md)
