The gifted artist produces a great deal of utterly divine [large-scale pieces in beautiful bronze](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-sculptures), but he has thankfully dedicated a series especially to [curious and energetic children](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kids-collection). Using polyester to model these big whimsical objects, the sculptor has created a fish and several other [fantastical-looking creatures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fibredog) from various branches of the animal kingdom. Playsculptures by Pieter Kortekaas have been executed with soft cartoony curves, a smooth skin and bold colors. They've also been formally enhanced with plenty of protruding features that allow youngsters to clamber up on top of the playground pieces and maintain their balance once mounted. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 54% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Youth](https://www.trendhunter.com/youth) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Outdoor Play Innovations:** The trend of creating interactive and climbable outdoor art installations encourages children to exercise, explore, and engage with their environment. - **Whimsical Sculpture Designs:** Artists are incorporating bold colors, soft curves, and imaginative forms into their sculptures, creating visually appealing and playful outdoor art installations. - **Child-focused Art Installations:** Artists are dedicating specific series to creating art installations that are designed to ignite a sense of curiosity and energy in children through interactive features and vibrant designs. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Design:** Artists and designers have an opportunity to create innovative and engaging outdoor art installations that combine elements of play and aesthetics. - **Playground Equipment Manufacturing:** Companies in the playground equipment manufacturing industry can explore new designs and materials that cater to the demand for climbable and interactive play structures. - **Urban Planning and Public Spaces:** City planners and architects can incorporate climbable outdoor art installations into public spaces, parks, and playgrounds to promote active play and enhance the overall aesthetic of the area. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Explorative Artwork Playground Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cuddly-playground.md) - [Structural Energetic Playgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archipelago-playscape.md) - [Heritage Sound Playgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hornscape-playground.md) - [Abstract Colorfully Vibrant Playscapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wired-scape.md) - [Wooden Light-Hearted Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-sculpture.md) - [Kid-Designed Sculptural Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/galerie-philia.md) - [Community-Centric Sculptural Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-sculptures.md) - [Sculptural Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-public-seating.md) - [Interactive Kinetic Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-kinetic-sculptures.md)
