However, what is unique about it is not only the live performances that will happen within it, but the building itself. Made out of 28 [shipping containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kennedy-model), Platoon Kunsthalle is both eco-friendly and functional. The Platoon Kunsthalle theater was designed by Graft Architects, and makes a functional theater space because of the removal of some of the shipping container walls, which were replaced with metal beams. The design is definitely modern, but is also great for modern arts (and the earth.) ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 66% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Eco-friendly Architecture:** Embracing sustainable building materials and design concepts to reduce environmental impact on theaters. - **Functional Use of Shipping Containers:** Transforming shipping containers into versatile spaces for artistic works. - **Modern and Innovative Theater Design:** Creating theater spaces that combine contemporary aesthetics with functional features. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture and Construction:** Exploring innovative techniques to design eco-friendly theaters using alternative building materials. - **Entertainment and Performing Arts:** Revolutionizing theater experiences by utilizing repurposed shipping containers as unique performance spaces. - **Sustainable Development and Green Solutions:** Finding disruptive opportunities to promote sustainability in the theater industry through eco-friendly designs and materials. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mass-Timber Lakeside Theaters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/theater-of-the-arts.md) - [Woodland Education Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clearing-education-center.md) - [Marine Waste Display Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/display-fixture.md) - [Pop-Up Event Companies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steel-space-concepts.md) - [Airborne Concert Halls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arka-nova.md) - [Sculptural Photocoltaic Theater Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/opera-and-ballet-theatre-of-kosovo.md) - [Everchanging Water-Based Theaters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yichang-grand-theatre.md) - [Shipping Container-Built Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kennedy-model.md) - [Container Observation Towers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lookout-above-litomyl.md)
