As more consumers opt for plant-based proteins due to my dietary restrictions and lifestyle choices — among other concerns, [Nestlé](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shrimp-alternative) is leveraging this growing market with the introduction of a new plant-based tuna alternative. Made using pea protein and wheat gluten, the new vegan-approved offering will be available at the end of August under the brand's [Garden Gourmet](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nestl) brand in Switzerland. The new faux tuna offering will appeal to consumers looking to reduce their consumption of animal protein and also serves as a healthier alternative to red meat.

The new plant-based tuna alternative follows the brand's launch of vegan burger patties, plant-based mince, vegan meatballs, plant-powered cold cuts, and vegan chicken nuggets and fillets, all of which have been widely popular.
