The window gardening unit allows apartment owners to compromise and still tend a small garden without giving up their high rise lifestyle. Designed by Nicolas Barreau and Jules Charbonnet, the Volet Végétal makes use of a clever pulley system which allows you to lower your [urban garden](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hydroponic-tower) into direct sunlight from your window. When pulled into its vertical position, the plants rotate accordingly, offering enough space for three large planters to sit inside the window frame. The device also works as a free standing garden indoors if necessary. The creative gardening tool is ideal for people wishing to grow their own plants, produce or herbs but who don't have adequate space to do so. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 60% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Vertical Gardening:** The Volet Végétal pulley system introduces a new way of easy-to-maintain urban gardening, expanding the potential for vertical gardens in small spaces. - **Multi-purpose Home Furniture:** The Volet Végétal's versatility as both an indoor and outdoor pulley system garden opens the possibility of developing more home furniture that offers multi-purpose functionality. - **Sustainable Urban Living:** The Volet Végétal's capacity to support home farming in small spaces demonstrates an increasing demand for a more sustainable approach to urban living. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home and Garden Retail:** The Volet Végétal offers a new avenue for home and garden retail companies to expand their product offerings towards sustainable urban living products. - **Agriculture:** The Volet Végétal pulley system introduces a new urban gardening technology that could lead to opportunities in non-traditional agriculture spaces. - **Iot Home Appliances:** The Volet Végétal's use of a pulley system suggests opportunities for companies in IoT home appliance technologies to innovate gardening and home farming tools. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Architecture-Inspired Indoor Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vegetment-vegetable-cultivator.md) - [Mini Mess-Free Garden Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hydroponics-garden.md) - [Minimalist Indoor Gardening Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balconyfarm-pot.md) - [Portable Minimal Smart Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balconyfarm-planter.md) - [Minimalist Gardener Kitchen Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plant-cultivator.md) - [In-House Gardening Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/at-home-gardening.md) - [Furniture-Inspired Indoor Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/indoor-garden-system.md) - [Smart Indoor Hydroponics Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-modular-indoor-hydroponics-garden-grow-vegetables-and-herbs-automatic.md) - [Gardening Furniture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/verda-garden.md)
