# Magnetic Orbit Lamps The Magnetosphere Recreates the Gravitational Pull Between Planets in Space By M | Published 2016-03-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/planets-in-space References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2016/03/09/may-the-force-be-with-you/) & [lefteristsampikakis](http://www.lefteristsampikakis.com/) The Magnetosphere artfully recreates the gravitational pull that exists between the planets in space in an elegant table lamp design. The light is inspired by the scientific forces of gravity and electromagnetism to create a lamp with two detachable components that stay securely together through a strong magnetic pull. The modern aesthetic of the Magnetosphere lamp is thanks to the use of magnets that keep the light's design together. The base is a circular sphere that is hollowed out to hold neodymium magnets. The magnets adhere to the lamp's wooden arm that holds the light source on a sleek wooden disc. The wooden arm can be adjusted to suit a variety of positions and will retain its shape thanks to the strong magnetic pull to the base. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 78% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Magnetic Lamps:** Incorporating magnetic elements in lighting design to create distinct and easily-adjustable structures. - **Gravitational-inspired Lighting:** Creating modern lighting fixtures that are inspired by planetary forces and electromagnetism. - **Customizable Lighting:** Designing lamps that can be adjusted to suit a variety of positions and uses using magnetic components. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** Creating innovative and modern lighting fixtures to cater to the changing demands of interior design. - **Home Decor:** Developing creative lighting options that cater to personalized home decor styles and preferences. - **Desktop Lighting:** Designing versatile lamp options that are both functional and stylish for desktop and office use. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Solar System-Inspired Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cosmooval.md) - [Eclipse-Inspired Whimsical Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/space-traveler.md) - [Childhood-Inspired Magnetic Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbe.md) - [Textured Moon-Inspired Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-phase-lamp.md) - [Levitating Solar System Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quantum-solar-system.md) - [Customizable Magnetic Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-magnetic-lamp.md) - [Floating Magnetic Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-mnuca-floating-lamp.md) - [Interactive Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-lamp.md) - [Calming Orb Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orb-lamp1.md)
