# Gorgeous Glowing Globes The Planet-O Lamp by Divisual is Made Up of Hand-Wielded Metal Discs By Meghan Young | Published 2014-04-30 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/planeto-lamp References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2014/04/30/planet-o-lamp-by-divisual/) & [divisual.it](http://www.divisual.it/en/planet-o/) There is a whimsical appeal to the Planet-O Lamp that is due entirely to the metal discs that it is made up of. A [planet of 'Os,'](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacetime-transformation-lamp) hence its clever name, each disc has been wielded by hand through a process of brazing brass in order to give their surfaces a unique finish as though they were manmade snowflakes. By using such discs, the Planet-O Lamp also boasts a pattern of negative spaces, which allow light to stream through while casting a [pretty pattern of circles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nova-pendant-light) against its immediate surroundings. The [metallic surface](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horizon-table-light) of the Planet-O Lamp adds another aesthetic appeal by reflecting the light even more. It is available in gold and silver. The Planet-O Lamp was designed by Divisual. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 72% | Activity: 51% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Hand-wielded Metal Discs:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the design and manufacturing of unique and customizable metal disc products. - **Pattern of Negative Spaces:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the creation of lighting products that utilize negative space to create visually appealing patterns. - **Reflective Metallic Surfaces:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the development of reflective materials and coatings for enhanced lighting and decorative products. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Lighting:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the lighting industry to create unique and visually fascinating products using inventive materials and designs. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the home decor industry to incorporate unique and eye-catching lighting products that combine aesthetics and functionality. - **Art and Design:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the art and design industry to explore new techniques and materials for creating visually striking and interactive light installations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Solar System-Inspired Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cosmooval.md) - [Otherworldly Lighting Fixture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otherworldly-lighting-fixture.md) - [3D-Printed Mood Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbyt.md) - [Calming Orb Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orb-lamp1.md) - [Horizontal Glass Sphere Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comet-pendant.md) - [Astro-Inspired Sculptural Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elara-suspension.md) - [Planetary Dual-Illumination Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbis-lamp.md) - [Childhood-Inspired Magnetic Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbe.md) - [Organically Shaped Shadow Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lamp.md)
