This new launch highlights four historically significant locations tied to pivotal moments in Canada’s [2SLGBTQIA](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pflag-canada)+ rights movement. The 'Places of Pride' stamp collection serves as both a celebration of progress and a recognition of the struggles faced by queer communities in securing visibility and legal protections. The featured sites include [Club](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paris-saintgermain-womens) Carousel in Calgary, one of the city’s first gay bars, which circumvented discriminatory laws through a members-only policy; Truxx in Montréal, where a 1977 police raid sparked protests that led to Quebec banning sexual orientation discrimination; Hanlan’s Point Beach in Toronto, host to the 1971 Gay Day Picnic — an early precursor to modern Pride celebrations; and the site of the 1990 3rd North American Native Gay & Lesbian Gathering in Manitoba, where the term 'Two-Spirit' was formally introduced to affirm Indigenous queer identities.
