To get started with this craft, the first step is to choose a photo. From there, the image is digitally simplified with software and ready to print as a paper template. After these steps, what's required are some materials to take the craft from 2D to 3D. Pixelhobby supplies colored base plates in an overwhelming range of colors, so that the perfect image can be recreated in 8-bit style. Rather than being shipped to you as loose pixels, for the sake of practicality, the base plates can be cut, meaning that crafters only use the number of pixels they need. Although customization is possible, there are also a number of [ready-to-assemble kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paint-vibe) in Pixelhobby's web store featuring playful images of hot air balloons, cats and flowers. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.1/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 78% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Youth](https://www.trendhunter.com/youth) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Personalized Pixel Art:** The trend of creating personalized 8-bit pixel art through software simplification and base plate assembly for crafters of all ages. - **DIY Crafting Kits:** The trend of providing DIY kits for crafting enthusiasts to make home decor and wall art, from ready-to-assemble kits to customizable options. - **Customizable Home Decor:** The trend of personalized home decor as customers have more control over the design process with the help of tools and software to create unique art pieces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Crafting and Hobby Supplies:** The crafting and hobby industry can explore creating user-friendly tools like software and convenient base plates to simplify DIY pixel art creation for a wider audience. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can leverage the trend of customizable DIY crafting kits and personalized 8-bit pixel art to offer unique decorating solutions and experiences to customers. - **Photography:** The photography industry can consider the potential of offering simplified software to convert images to pixel art and providing unique products like customizable DIY kits, and base plates to generate new revenue streams. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Pixel Art Creators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pixelart-lab.md) - [Retro Image Converters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/image-to-pixel-art.md) - [Customized Numeric Paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paint-by-numbers-customized.md) - [Pixelated Tile Toy Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/click-tile-construction-set.md) - [Pixelated Toy-Like Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/litebrite-pop-wow-wall-art.md) - [NFT Artwork Printers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pixels.md) - [NFT Printing Services](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pixelscom.md) - [Colorful Retro Pixel Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paint-mirror.md) - [Building Block Art Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/art-project-create-together.md)
