# Jenga-Inspired Furniture The Pixel Table by Studio Intussen is Playfully Versatile and Sustainable By Meghan Young | Published 2012-04-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pixel-table References: [gizmodo](http://gizmodo.com/5900666/jenga) & [studiointussen.nl](http://studiointussen.nl/website/shop/pixel-table/) The Pixel Table looks like it was inspired by the puzzle game known as [Jenga](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cenga-coffee-set). In fact, it could easily be mistaken as a big version of the balancing tower. But the Pixel Table doesn't challenge people to display their motor and mental skills. Instead, it serves a purely practical purpose. The individual blocks of wood that slide in and out of the Pixel Table are not meant to fall out like traditional Jenga pieces. Instead, they combine to form additional storage and surfaces. Designed by The Hague-based [Studio Intussen](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tidone), which was founded by Tessa Kuyvenhoven, the Pixel Table is made out of a bundle of uniformly cut bamboo. The Pixel Table is versatile and sustainable. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 45% | Activity: 64% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Pixel Furniture:** The Pixel Table demonstrates an opportunity to design furniture that is both playful and practical. - **Versatile Surfaces:** The Pixel Table showcases the trend for modular furniture that can morph to fit multiple needs. - **Bamboo Design:** The use of bamboo in Pixel Table highlights the shift towards sustainable materials in design. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** There is an opportunity for furniture designers to explore the potential of modular, versatile pieces like the Pixel Table. - **Sustainable Materials:** As sustainable design continues to grow in popularity, bamboo and other eco-friendly materials are set to become increasingly important in furniture design. - **Interior Design:** The playful and practical nature of the Pixel Table creates opportunities for interior designers to create dynamic, flexible spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Interlocking Puzzle-Like Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/connect-table.md) - [Jigsaw Puzzle-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puzzle-shelf.md) - [Playing Cards-Inspired Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hito-table.md) - [Playful Accent Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-table.md) - [Video Game-Like Bookcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tetris-bookcase.md) - [Dynamic Sculptural Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-transformation-table.md) - [Self-Assembly Sustainable Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bndner-side-table.md) - [Compact Functional Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookmarker-table.md) - [Perplexingly Angular Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tadashi-side-table.md)
