# Musical Xylophone Mugs Pitcher by Mac Funamizu Produces a Pitch to Denote its Capacity By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-10-04 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pitcher-by-mac-funamizu References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Pitchaer/289994) Making music with [wineglasses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zenbowl) is a longtime habit and hobby of many, but the tunes produced differ greatly from the sounds that Pitcher by Mac Funamizu makes. The brilliant designer has a boundless imagination and creative drive, conceiving yet again another item that no one else would have likely dreamed up. This particular piece is a [jug and thermos hybrid](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alessi-buri-tumbler), conceived to keep the beverage within protected beneath an insulating cork cap. So that the drinker need not open the lid to learn the inner volume of the remaining liquid, this eccentric invention provides an alternative method. A [mallet at the base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christmas-music-box) has been placed so that it can strike the receptacle and the handgrip separately. Empty, the ewer produces the same noise as the handle when struck, and the more full the Pitcher by Mac Funamizu is, the higher the comparative pitch against the mug. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 61% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Inventions](https://www.trendhunter.com/inventions) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Musical Pitcher Design:** The integration of musical elements into everyday objects opens up opportunities for unique and engaging user experiences. - **Hybrid Jug-thermos:** The combination of a jug and thermos creates a versatile drink container that offers convenience and functionality. - **Alternative Volume Measurement:** Innovative methods of measuring liquid volume without traditional means enable more efficient and interactive beverage consumption experiences. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Product Design:** Designers have the opportunity to incorporate musical elements into their creations, adding a touch of whimsy and novelty. - **Outdoor and Camping Gear:** The hybrid jug-thermos concept could find applications in the outdoor and camping industry, providing multi-functional and space-saving drink containers. - **Food and Beverage Packaging:** Alternative methods of volume measurement can be implemented in packaging designs, enhancing user experiences and convenience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Perfect Sound-Producing Drinkware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perfect-cheers.md) - [Captivating Tonal Drinking Glassware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/podio-cup.md) - [Sensor-Guided Tea Cups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soundsip.md) - [Feline-Inspired Kitchenware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balvi-meow-water-jug.md) - [Audio Bottle Scanners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sound-scales.md) - [Coffee Ground-Made Music Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snowie.md) - [Bell-Shaped Coffee Mugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mario-mug.md) - [Water Filtering Pitcher Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/osoi.md) - [Teatime-Inspired Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/musical-tea-set-toy.md)
