# Compact Bike Desks The PIT IN Table Allows Your Bicycle to Act as a Chair By Meghan Young | Published 2011-03-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pit-in References: [bookofjoe](http://www.bookofjoe.com/2011/03/pit-in-bike-desk.html) & [storemuu](http://www.storemuu.com/pitin3.html) Forget [indoor bike racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/draken-bicycle-stand), stands and other traditional ways to integrate your bicycle into the home without it becoming an eyesore, instead take a good look at the PIT IN bike desk. This interesting piece of furniture makes your bike doubly useful by converting it into a seat when not in use. Conceived by [Store Muu Design Studio](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marc-antoine-barrois), the PIT IN bike desk is made entirely out of plywood. Nominated for Design Report Award 2009 in Milano Salone Satellite, it is definitely getting a lot of deserved love from the public and design circle. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 71% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Bike-friendly Furniture:** There is an opportunity to create more innovative bike-friendly furniture that integrates cycling into everyday life. - **Multi-functional Designs:** Designers can create more multi-functional furniture that combines everyday items for more efficient space usage. - **Sustainability and Eco-friendliness:** There is an opportunity to incorporate sustainable and eco-friendly materials into furniture designs such as the PIT IN bike desk. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can further explore bike-friendly and multi-functional furniture designs to stay ahead of the curve. - **Cycling:** The cycling industry can collaborate with furniture designers to cater to consumers who want to easily integrate biking into their daily lives. - **Sustainability:** Sustainable materials and designs are becoming increasingly popular among consumers, creating opportunities for the furniture industry to incorporate these trends into their products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Indoor Cyclist Furniture Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tons-tech-table-and-stands.md) - [Workstation-Equipped Electric Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buck-bike.md) - [Connected Smart Cyclist Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thermaltake-cycledesk-100-gaming-desk.md) - [Transforming Furniture Bicycles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outlaw-bike.md) - [Bike-Friendly Outdoor Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pinajarro-bench.md) - [Decor-Matching Exercise Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/around-spinning-bike.md) - [Fold-Away Sleek Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flip-desk.md) - [Minimalist Storage-Paired Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diag-desk.md) - [Power-Generating Desk Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lifespan-ampera.md)
