# Kid-Friendly Cartoon Scanners This Pirate CT Scanner Makes Sick Children More Comfortable By Sarah St.Jules | Published 2013-09-03 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pirate-ct-scanner References: [laughingsquid](http://laughingsquid.com/hospital-hopes-to-make-young-patients-experience-less-scary-with-a-pirate-ct-scanner/) & [childrensnyp.org](http://childrensnyp.org/mschony/) The New York-Presbyterian [Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-painted-house) has created an interesting way of helping kids through tough time, a pirate CT scanner. Being ill is hard enough on its own, never mind if you are a child and not fully understanding why you need to be put through multiple tests. The typical CT scanning machine is very intimidating. It is a round contraption that you go headfirst into. It's no wonder that this would be terrifying if you were a child. The room that this scanner is in has been decorated in a pirate themed decor, and even the floor has been painted to look like water. The actual machine has a traditional wheel decal around the opening of the scanner. If this pirate CT scanner eases the fears of one child who is sick, then it's worth every penny. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 46% | Activity: 69% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Alpha - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Kid-friendly Medical Equipment:** The use of playful designs in medical equipment can ease the fears of sick children and make testing more comfortable for them. - **Themed Hospital Rooms:** Decorating hospital rooms with a specific theme, like a pirate theme, can make the hospital environment less intimidating for young patients. - **Patient-centered Healthcare:** By taking into consideration the needs and fears of young patients, healthcare providers can create a more patient-centered approach to care. ### Who This Affects Most - **Medical Equipment Manufacturing:** There is an opportunity for medical equipment manufacturers to market kid-friendly designs to hospitals and healthcare facilities. - **Hospitality:** Creating a themed environment, like a pirate themed hospital room, can be a unique selling point for hospitals and healthcare facilities. - **Pediatric Healthcare:** Providers of pediatric healthcare can incorporate patient-centered design elements to make healthcare more comfortable for children. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Medical Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zoobree-nebulizer.md) - [Medical Preparation Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/medical-preparation-toy.md) - [VR-Based Pain Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smileyscope.md) - [Kid-Friendly 3D Foot Scanners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-foot-scanner.md) - [Child-Friendly Medication Dispensers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/singing-bottle.md) - [Toy-Like Duck-Inspired Thermometers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ducky-thermometer.md) - [Child-Friendly Camera Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/camera-for-kids.md) - [Cutting-Edge Portable X-Ray Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-xray.md) - [AI-Based Children Companions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robin-the-robot.md)
