# Arcade-Inspired Dishware The Piranha Plant Wine Glasses are Great for Any Geeky Gamer By Marina Rotharmel | Published 2012-10-18 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piranha-plant-wine-glasses References: [etsy](http://www.etsy.com/listing/112393746/piranha-plant-wine-glasses-two-hand?ref=cat2_gallery_25) Have a classy night in with your nerdy friends and sip some wine out of the Piranha Plant Wine Glasses. These super fun geek-chic glasses are sure to spruce up any gamer's home. The cute design comes from [Etsy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arcade-clock) seller Alexandra Minsterketter and can be found on her BasementInvaders page. The design for this dorky dishware is inspired by the [iconic video game Super Mario](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mario-mug). Minsterketter hand paints each piece to look like the man-eating piranha plants in the game; however, instead of gobbling up game characters, it will gobble up all your wine. She paints the stems of the [wine glass](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sommelier-pro-collection) green and uses the cup area to create the red and white flower. These would be great for any geeky gamer's home. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 41% | Activity: 20% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Drinking](https://www.trendhunter.com/drinking) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Gamer Dishware:** Opportunity to create more dishware designs inspired by popular video games. - **Handcrafted Tableware:** Opportunity to showcase unique, handcrafted tableware designs for a more personalised dining experience. - **Geek-chic Home Decor:** Opportunity to explore and create more home decor items that combine geek culture with modern design aesthetics. ### Where This Applies - **Housewares:** Opportunity for houseware companies to collaborate with designers and create unique, themed dishware collections. - **Handicrafts:** Opportunity for handicrafts businesses to create buzzworthy, hand-painted tableware items that cater to a niche market of gamers and geeks. - **Gaming Merchandise:** Opportunity for gaming merchandise companies to expand their product line to home decor items and attract a broader audience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Video Game-Inspired Homewares](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-mario-home-adventure-life.md) - [Video Game Plant-Inspired Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piranha-plant-camera.md) - [Video Game-Inspired Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pac-man-side-table.md) - [Gaming Console Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mario-cart-coffe-table.md) - [Space-Saving Wine Glasses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-splitglass.md) - [Joystick Whiskey Decanters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joystick-decanter.md) - [Insulated Video Game Tumblers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-mario-tumbler-book.md) - [Luminescent Mushroom Plant Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lunalite-solar-mushroom-planter-stake.md) - [Wine-Catered Vibrant Artful Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wine-table.md)
