# Geeky Game Villain USBs Fans of Mario Will Jump for Joy Over This Piranha Plant USB Key By Jason Soy | Published 2011-05-21 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piranha-plant-usb-key References: [likecool](http://www.likecool.com/Light_Up_Piranha_Plant_USB_Circuit_Board_Keychain--Other--Gear.html) & [etsy](http://www.etsy.com/listing/73527437/piranha-usb-circuit-board-keychain) USB keys are getting wackier and wackier and this Piranha Plant USB Key is on the top of my list of ones to buy. The minimalistic USB key sports a [circuit board design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ddbrand-circuit-board) with the addition of the classic Super Mario Brothers villain we all recognize from our childhood. Probably the funnest part of this Piranha Plant USB Key is the fact that a little LED bulb lights up whenever you plug it into a computer, emulating the classic Mario villain's trademark attack. It's available in keychains, necklaces, earrings and magnet designs, and to top it all off, it only costs $5 on [Etsy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/native-app)! One minor problem though, is this thing doesn't actually store data. But that's okay because I have tons of other [fun-themed USB keys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sandisk-crayola-usbc) that can do that job anyway. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 25% | Activity: 19% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Wacky USB Keys:** Opportunity to create unique and playful USB designs that cater to niche interests. - **Geeky Accessories:** Potential for the development of a wide range of accessories inspired by popular video game villains. - **Led-enhanced Gadgets:** Integration of LED lights into everyday gadgets to add a touch of novelty and nostalgia. ### Who This Affects Most - **Consumer Electronics:** Room for innovation in USB key design and functionality within the broader consumer electronics industry. - **Fashion and Accessories:** Market for unique, geek-inspired accessories that appeal to nostalgic gamers and pop culture enthusiasts. - **E-commerce:** Potential for online retailers to curate and sell a variety of fun, themed USB keys and geeky accessories. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Christmas-Themed USB Keys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/psb-xmas-tree.md) - [Gaming Star Toppers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/invincibility-star.md) - [Object-Resembling USB Drives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sandisk-1.md) - [Adult Gamer Toy Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-super-mario-piranha-plant.md) - [Icon-Shaped USB Drives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folderdrive.md) - [Video Game Desktop Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-talking-flower.md) - [Fire-Breathing Toy Figures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jakks-pacific-super-mario-bros-movie.md) - [Animation-Inspired LED Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/animationinspired-led-lamp.md) - [Bird-Shaped USB Flash Drives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pinge.md)
