# Smoky Seating Creations The Pipe Chair is Designed to be Intellectually Stimulating By Michael Hines | Published 2012-06-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pipe-chair References: [industrialdesignserved](http://www.industrialdesignserved.com/gallery/Pipe-chair/2722401) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/babkin) The Pipe Chair is a [conceptual chair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deepmind-ai-chair) designed to mimic the look of a wooden pipe. The chair was created by designer Yaroslav Rassadin. Rassadin designed the chair to let its occupant feel the same sense of intellect that those smoking out of wooden pipes often seem to emanate. Smoking a pipe may not be the smartest move healthwise, but some of the greatest thinkers -- both from the real world and from the world of fiction -- were smokers. Sherlock Holmes, Mark Twain and Dwight Eisenhower all smoked pipes. The Piper Chair's [soft and ergonomic styling](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perron-pillo-lounge-chair) is meant to act as a complement to its intellectually stimulating design. Whether or not you believe that smart people smoke, you'd have to admit that the Pipe Chair looks pretty darn comfortable and classy. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 33% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Intellecutally Stimulating Furniture:** The trend for furniture that stimulates intellect could be a new area for designers to explore. - **Retro-inspired Design:** Designers can look to the past, like the wooden pipe, for inspiration for modern furniture. - **Ergonomic Comfort:** Functional and comfortable design can add value to any piece of furniture. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Furniture designers can take inspiration from retro smoking accessories. - **Home Decor:** Home decor retailers can tap into the nostalgia of retro-inspired design to attract customers. - **Health and Wellness:** Health-conscious consumers can opt for furniture with ergonomically-designed features to promote comfort and well-being. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Espresso Maker-Inspired Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moka-chair.md) - [Thoughtful Contemporary Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-pipe.md) - [Future-Facing Tech Brand Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seed-chair.md) - [Adhd-Friendly Meditation Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pipersong-chair.md) - [Anatomical Lounge Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/himalaya-pelvis-chair.md) - [Nostalgic Bistro-Style Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aroma-chair.md) - [Cross-Legged Wide Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lap-chair.md) - [Tubular Vibrant Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/naughtone-percy.md) - [Childhood-Inspired Outdoor Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peace-outdoor-lounge.md)
