# Gamer Smartphone Displays The PIP-Boy 3000 iPhone Case Pays Homage to 'Fallout 3' By Michael Hines | Published 2011-06-01 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pip-boy-3000-iphone References: [walyou](http://walyou.com/fallout-pip-boy-iphone-mod/) & [chanced1.deviantart](http://chanced1.deviantart.com/) My love for the epic RPG (role-playing game) 'Fallout 3' has just been rekindled thanks to the [PIP-Boy 3000](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bethesda-pipboy-3000-replica) [iPhone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tech-collaboration) case. DeviantART user Chanced1 has created an iPhone case modeled after the wrist-worn in-game display from the mega-hit video game. Chanced1 created the PIP-Boy 3000 iPhone case out of card and papier-mâché, giving the the whole package a badass paint job, so that it could more closely match its in-game counterpart. This featherweight case fits an iPhone snugly, although its ability to protect the iPhone when under fire from Super Mutants is debatable. I for one would love to see a limited-edition run of the PIP-Boy 3000 iPhone case made in conjunction with [Bethesda](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elgato-x-fallout) (the game's maker) and an iPhone case company. This piece of one-off awesomeness will have to do for now. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 48% | Activity: 79% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/games) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Gamer-designed Phone Cases:** Designing phone cases inspired by popular video games creates a niche market for gamers and collectors alike - **Interactive Gaming Accessories:** Creating interactive gaming accessories for mobile devices provides a unique user experience for gamers on the go - **Customizable Phone Cases:** Offering customizable phone cases through third-party sellers can create a personalized item for customers based on their interests ### Where This Applies - **Smartphone Accessories:** Companies that produce smartphone accessories can partner with gaming studios to create licensed products to appeal to a wider audience - **Gaming Industry:** Gaming companies can expand their market by producing interactive accessories and merchandise related to their games - **Customized Merchandise:** Companies that specialize in customizable merchandise can expand their offerings to include niche items for specific interests, such as gaming ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Gaming-Inspired Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-3-case.md) - [Retro Gaming Phone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gamebaby.md) - [Interactive Gaming Phone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gaming-phone-case.md) - [Gaming-Ready Phone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rhinobuff-precision-fps-kit.md) - [Game-Inspired Smartphone Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diablo-immortal-version.md) - [Vintage Game Tech Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tech-collaboration.md) - [Hit Show-Themed Phone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/squid-game-x-casetify.md) - [Customizable LED Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-iphone-case.md) - [Popular Game-Inspired PC Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/persona-3-reload-y60-bundle.md)
