The idea was to bridge the gap between formal studies and professional work for the [University of Kansas'](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/research-centre) architectural graduates. Over the years, the practice taps about 30 students to work through nearly all aspects of the construction process right from ideation to the full realization. Rockhill explains, I had noticed that students were suffering from what I’ve described as this sort of deprived youth, and began doing just a little bit of building with them. And they were just drunk on the potency of that experience. I couldn’t believe it. And they just wanted to get out of the classroom.” Image Credit: Duravit, Studio 804, Corey Gaffer ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 36% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 21% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Student-led Design Projects:** Empowering architectural students to engage in real-world construction projects, bridging the gap between theory and practice. - **Collaborative Construction Processes:** Involving multiple stakeholders in every step of the construction process, leading to holistic and integrated design outcomes. - **Educational-industry Partnerships:** Creating opportunities for universities to collaborate with industry professionals, enriching the learning experience for students. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** Exploring new models of blending academic education with hands-on construction projects in architectural training. - **Construction:** Implementing student involvement in construction projects to foster innovation and practical skills development in the industry. - **Education:** Facilitating partnerships between educational institutions and businesses to enhance learning outcomes and real-world application for students. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Pink Plaster Limestone Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ua-house.md) - [Hillside Pink Tile Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seosaeng-house.md) - [Elevated Design-Forward Pink Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pink-villa1.md) - [Ceramic Modern Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hillsborough-residence.md) - [Bathroom-Centric Dubai Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bone-studio.md) - [Kerala-Based Modern Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-next-door-project.md) - [Welcoming Prefabricated Student Housing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ignacio-prego-architectures.md) - [Neighborhood-Honoring Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delancy-residence.md) - [Pastel Student Welfare Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/placidus-building.md)
