The [consumer 360-degree camera](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/birdfy-feeder-vista), which has recently been unveiled at CES 2018, shoots [8K footage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/premium-8k) at 30 frames per second, or still-impressive 4K footage at a staggering 100 frames per second. The device comes with four cameras — one on each face of its rectangular body. While there are other [360-degree cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ricoh-ricoh360-theta-a1) that have similar four-camera layouts and 8K capabilities, what truly sets the Pilot Era apart from competitors is its onboard computer. Other cameras need to be connected to a an external computer in order to be able to stitch together raw footage, but the Pilot Era can do that all internally, making it far more convenient and easy to use. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 52% | Activity: 75% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **8K 360-degree Cameras:** The 'Pilot Era' from Pisofttech shoots high-res 3D footage. - **Onboard Computer:** The Pilot Era camera's onboard computer allows for convenient and easy use. - **Internal Raw Footage Stitching:** The Pilot Era's ability to stitch raw footage internally disrupts the need for external computers. ### Where This Applies - **Consumer Electronics:** The 8K 360-degree camera market offers disruptive innovation opportunities for consumer electronics companies. - **Photography and Videography:** The Pilot Era's high-resolution and convenient features present disruptive innovations for the photography and videography industry. - **Virtual Reality:** The 8K 360-degree cameras, like the Pilot Era, create disruptive opportunities in the virtual reality industry for immersive experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [High-End Imaging Action Cams](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qoocam-3.md) - [Professional VR-Ready Camera Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/8k-vr-camera.md) - [Low-Cost 360-Degree Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/akaso-360.md) - [8K 360-Degree Action Cams](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insta360-x4.md) - [Hyper High-Resolution Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hyper-highresolution-camera.md) - [5G-Enabled 360-Degree Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nokia-360-camera.md) - [8K 360-Degree Action Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gopro-max2.md) - [Lightweight 360-Degree Action Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insta360-x4-air.md) - [360°-Degree Action Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/x5-camera.md)
