# Clear Illuminating Cushions The Pillow Light by Marleen Kurvers Brightens the Bedroom By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-04-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pillow-light-by-marleen-kurvers References: [industrialdesignserved](http://www.industrialdesignserved.com/gallery/Pillow-light/1132559) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Pillow-light/1132559) Someone who enjoys reading in bed would appreciate the glowing Pillow Light by Marleen Kurvers. The [soft-looking sculptural object](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/souffl-lamp) is made of [distorted sheets of glass](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuloa) to take on the plushy appearance of a comfy cushion, and it's enhanced with the [warm incandescence](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wake-lamp) of an incorporated lightbulb. Holding a book over your head may shade the shine of your bedside lamp, but this unique item radiates from behind you to keep each page illuminated. The switch is within easy reach, so you've no reason to get up to turn the light off and navigate back to bed in the dark. Where the Pillow Light by Marleen Kurvers is a compelling piece of art, exploring the paradox of softness, sharpness, dullness and brightness, one may find it more suitable as a singular sculpture. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 24% | Activity: 40% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Glowing Home Decor:** The Pillow Light by Marleen Kurvers showcases the trend of incorporating lighting into home decor, creating a warm and stylish ambiance. - **Functional Art:** The sculptural design of the Pillow Light by Marleen Kurvers highlights the trend of creating functional items that also serve as pieces of art. - **Convenient Lighting Solutions:** The integrated switch and easy reach of the Pillow Light by Marleen Kurvers addresses the trend of incorporating convenient features into lighting products. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Decor:** The Pillow Light by Marleen Kurvers aligns with the home decor industry, offering a unique and artistic lighting option for interior spaces. - **Art and Design:** The Pillow Light by Marleen Kurvers taps into the art and design industry, merging aesthetics with functionality to create a visually appealing and practical product. - **Lighting:** The Pillow Light by Marleen Kurvers falls into the lighting industry, providing an innovative and convenient lighting solution for reading or creating ambiance in the bedroom. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Industrial Light-Equipped Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hidden-light-chair.md) - [Soothing Ambience-Focused Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/medmaster-pillow.md) - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md) - [Convenient Book Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/android-book-light.md) - [Pop-Up Reading Light Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/personal-task-lamp.md) - [Light-Equipped Reading Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dasung.md) - [Minimal Wake-Aware Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wake-sleep-light.md) - [Health-Focused Bedside Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/philips-hue-twilight.md) - [Soft Comfort Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-lamp.md)
