# Deceptive Smartphone Docks The Pillow Cement iPhone Rest by Snarkitecture is Whimsical By Meghan Young | Published 2014-09-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pillow-cement References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/pillow-cement-iphone-rest-by-snarkitecture/) & [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/pillow-cement-iphone-rest-by-snarkitecture/) The Pillow Cement [iPhone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apple-snooze) Rest is not one's average smartphone dock. Instead of adhering to a typical techy appearance, it is much more sculptural and artistic for a whimsical aesthetic anyone can enjoy. Deceptive in design, the Pillow Cement looks like a comfy cushion that a small pet would curl on instead of an iPhone. But as its name suggests, it's made out of concrete not feathers. With a very specific recess, the Pillow Cement iPhone Rest is made to hold [Apple](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magsafe-iphone-stand) devices. Yet perhaps it can be home to other phones as well. Designed by [Snarkitecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daniels-room), the Pillow Cement boasts a cutout at the bottom so that cables can run underneath it. They are cast by hand in Brooklyn, New York. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 45% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Artistic Smartphone Docks:** Opportunity for artists and designers to create more visually appealing and unique charging docks for smartphones. - **Whimsical Tech Accessories:** Opportunity for companies to tap into the market for tech accessories with a more playful and whimsical aesthetic. - **Sculptural Design in Technology:** Opportunity for companies to incorporate artistic and sculptural elements into the design of technology products to differentiate them from competitors. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Technology:** There is an opportunity for technology companies to create unique and visually appealing charging docks for smartphones. - **Art:** Artists and designers can explore the intersection of technology and art by creating unique and visually interesting charging docks for smartphones. - **Design:** Design companies can offer unique and creative charging docks for smartphones as part of their product line. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Miniature Phone Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phone-sleep.md) - [Bed-Like Technology Chargers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foam-wireless-charger.md) - [Artistic Wireless Charging Docks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twelve-south-powerpic-mod.md) - [Sturdy Home Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-cement-decor.md) - [Colorful Smartphone Charging Docks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/griptok.md) - [Branded Technology Alarm Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apple-snooze.md) - [Orange-Accented Concrete Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concrete-speaker1.md) - [Garden-Inspired Smartphone Chargers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-moonlit-desk-garden.md) - [Smartphone-Sized Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phone-sleep-collection.md)
