Take this awesome [night stand](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-sleep-nightstand)/[book shelf](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twoinone-billy-model) by Josefin Hellström for example. It is designed in the shape of, wait for it, a pile of books. A great piece to add to your living room, bedroom or even office. It also serves as a place to put your drink on top or slippers in the bottom 'book'. **Implications** - Consumers are looking for designs that challenge them. Products that incorporate an attractive aesthetic with an element of stimulation appeal to shoppers who desire more than just eye candy. Items that combine these two aspects could help a company grow its audience. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 13% | Activity: 59% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Stimulating Designs:** Designs that incorporate an attractive aesthetic with an element of stimulation appeal to consumers looking for more than just eye candy. - **Functional Furniture:** Furniture pieces that serve multiple purposes, like a night stand/book shelf, are gaining popularity among consumers. - **Creative Office Decor:** Unique furniture pieces, like a pile of books night stand, can add a touch of creativity to office spaces. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** The furniture industry has an opportunity to create stimulating designs that appeal to consumers looking for unique and multipurpose pieces. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can cater to the growing demand for functional furniture that adds a creative touch to living spaces. - **Office Supplies:** The office supplies industry has an opportunity to offer creative and unique furniture pieces that enhance the aesthetic of workspaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Personality-Enhancing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ordo-book.md) - [Curvaceous Storage-Focused Nightstands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cozy-night-stand.md) - [Bookcase-Equipped Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/low-wall-side-table.md) - [Compact Functional Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookmarker-table.md) - [Abstract Jigsaw-Like Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spectator-shelf.md) - [Bookshelf-Incorporated Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/overlap-table.md) - [Minimalist Book Storage Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocket-coffee-table.md) - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [Book-Holding Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cowboy-sidetable.md)
