# Playful Pig Slides This Hilarious Pig Slide is a Bizarre Way to Spice up a Farm By Paul Maccarone | Published 2013-08-11 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pig-slides References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2013/08/08/Farmer-Builds-a-Slide-for-His-Pigs/) Creative farmer Erik Stegink, who resides in the Netherlands, decided to increase the entertainment his animals were experiencing by adding some pig slides. The bizarre addition was a huge hit with his [curious pigs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peter-pigs) as in no time the animals were sliding down the contraption into the mud. If there is one thing to say about this strange story it's that Stegink is definitely a farmer who thinks outside the box. As wacky as it sounds to try an increase a pig's entertainment, there are some facts that make the idea a bit more logical. As saddening as it is to say this, an animal that experiences less stress will evidently produce a better quality meat. Not that I support the [harvesting of animals for food](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/porkless-pies), but the idea of pig slides is actually a fairly brilliant idea. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 78% | Activity: 81% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Bizarre](https://www.trendhunter.com/bizarre) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Animal Entertainment:** The trend of enhancing the entertainment experience for animals, like pig slides, can lead to reduced stress and improved quality in livestock. - **Unique Farm Attractions:** Creating unique and unexpected attractions on farms, such as pig slides, can attract visitors and add novelty experiences to agrotourism. - **Innovative Animal Enrichment:** Developing innovative ways to enrich the lives of animals, such as pig slides, can promote animal welfare and improve overall health. ### Where This Applies - **Agriculture and Livestock:** The agriculture and livestock industry can explore the use of innovative animal enrichment strategies, like pig slides, to improve animal well-being and productivity. - **Agrotourism:** Agrotourism operators can incorporate unique attractions, such as pig slides, to create memorable experiences and attract visitors to their farms. - **Animal Welfare:** Organizations focused on animal welfare can advocate for the adoption of innovative enrichment methods, like pig slides, to enhance the quality of life for animals in various settings. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Swine-Centric Cooling Pads](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cooling-pad.md) - [Strategic Swine Board Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silly-strategy-board-game.md) - [Pigsty-Converted Farmside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-recipe-house.md) - [Pig-Weighing Pen Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dol-sensors.md) - [Sandwich-Inspired Water Slides](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dip-n-slides.md) - [Giant Chicken-Like Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heir-and-a-spare.md) - [Pig-Themed Popcorn Snacks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peter-pigs.md) - [Outdoor Waterslide Drinking Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/what-do-you-meme-slip-sip-flip.md) - [Highly-Localized Village Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-pignear-bath.md)
