# Intimate Insect Photography These Pictures of Bees Get You Up Close and Personal By Sarah St.Jules | Published 2013-09-13 | Updated 2013-09-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pictures-of-bees References: [laughingsquid](http://laughingsquid.com/incredible-macro-photos-of-insects-by-the-usgs/) & [pwrc.usgs.gov](http://www.pwrc.usgs.gov/nativebees/) Rarely have there been pictures of bees that have been so close to the insect that you can see minute details. This collection takes you to a place many of us never want to be, and that is face to face with a bee. The [USGS](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/longs-peak-collection) Bee Inventory and Monitoring Lab have used a special technology in order to take macro photos of the insects. They have a large collection of these pictures, and they have done this to allow people to get a look at the bees. Bees have a bad rep, since they are able to harm us, we don't typically like them. However, they're an integral part of our ecosystem, and without [their pollination](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/birks-for-bees), many things would die. These pictures of bees have been designed to draw attention to the insects, and hopefully they make humans feel closer to them as opposed to being more terrified. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 52% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Macro Insect Photography:** Opportunity to develop new technologies to capture even more detailed images of insects and other small organisms. - **Ecological Awareness:** Increasing awareness of the importance of insects in maintaining ecological balance and promoting sustainable practices. - **Artistic Depiction of Nature:** Opportunity to use macro insect photography as a tool for artistic expression and new forms of visual media. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Photography:** Development of new equipment and specialized techniques for macro insect photography. - **Ecological Conservation:** Promoting the importance of insects in sustaining the environment and developing conservation programs. - **Art and Media:** Incorporating macro insect photography into art and media to promote ecological awareness and foster creative expression. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Multidirectional Miniature Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multidirectional-miniature-robots.md) - [Bug-Inspired Jewelry](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/murder-hornet-ring.md) - [Insect-Inspired Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insect-bronze-sculptures.md) - [AI-Powered Beehive Farming Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2035-moving-beehive-mobility.md) - [Miniature Flying Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-robot.md) - [Charitable Bee-Sized Bidets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/world-bee-day.md) - [Honey-Based Artisanal Brands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/farm-to-body.md) - [Life-Sized Puzzled Insect Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insect-collection.md) - [Bee-Free Honey Menus](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/melibio.md)
