The dual-layer blanket features 30D nylon ripstop on the bottom side and a wool-nylon blend on top to help keep the blanket from becoming uncomfortable when used for extended periods. Placing a regular blanket on the outside ground usually renders it dirty and/or damp, which can quickly lead to an uncomfortable experience for sitters and the potential for it to start moulding. The PDW Technical Picnic Blankets act as a versatile way to sit on the outside ground without having to worry about the elements affecting your gear. It can even be used to create a [makeshift camping space](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zpacks-duplex-pro), if desired or required. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 74% | Activity: 49% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Versatile Outdoor Blankets:** The PDW Technical Picnic Blankets showcase the trend of versatile outdoor blankets that are designed to keep users comfortable in various outdoor activities. - **Dual-layer Construction:** The dual-layer blanket design, featuring 30D nylon ripstop and a wool-nylon blend, demonstrates the trend of innovative material combinations for enhanced outdoor functionality. - **Multi-purpose Camping Equipment:** The PDW Technical Picnic Blankets highlight the trend of multi-purpose camping equipment that serves as both a comfortable sitting surface and a makeshift camping space. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Outdoor Recreation:** The versatile outdoor blankets trend presents disruptive innovation opportunities in the outdoor recreation industry, providing campers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts with more comfortable and functional equipment. - **Textile Manufacturing:** The dual-layer construction trend opens up disruptive innovation opportunities in the textile manufacturing industry, allowing for the creation of new materials that offer improved performance and comfort in outdoor settings. - **Camping and Outdoor Gear:** The multi-purpose camping equipment trend offers disruptive innovation possibilities within the camping and outdoor gear industry, enabling manufacturers to create versatile products that meet the needs of adventurers and campers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Upcycled Outdoor Down Blankets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rebird-down-blanket.md) - [Fire-Resistant Campsite Blankets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/updated-nanoloft-takibi-blanket.md) - [Outdoor Adventure Blankets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puffle-zero.md) - [Safety-Focused Camper Blankets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nanoloft-flame-puffy-blanket.md) - [Collaboration Camper Blankets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rumpl-x-snow-peak-nanoloft-takibi-blanket.md) - [Sustainable Soft Beach Blankets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nomadix-festival-blanket.md) - [All-in-One Ultralight Mats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ultralight-mat.md) - [Technical Collaboration Blankets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reconnect-puffy-blanket.md) - [Poncho-Style Camping Quilts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trail-quilt.md)
