Not actually grand piano-sized, the floating instruments in this art piece are smaller in stature, making it feasible to hang them up using delicate strands of wire. To give such a cumbersome instrument the semblance of weightlessness is an impressive feat in itself, and the use of [dazzling lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/duo-1) and spools of brightly colored thread turn the whole gallery into a magical site of musical wonder and delight. Throughout his piano art installation, Ken Unsworth also incorporates other [impressively suspended objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-bench) such as a set of giant wooden oars and a vintage baby crib for added effect. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Floating Installations:** Creating suspended installations of various objects, not limited to pianos, opens up new possibilities for immersive art experiences. - **Weightlessness Illusion:** Using delicate strands of wire to suspend heavy objects and create an illusion of weightlessness presents opportunities for innovative visual displays. - **Integration of Light and Color:** Incorporating dazzling lights and spools of brightly colored thread into art installations can transform spaces into magical and visually captivating experiences. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Sculpture:** Artists and sculptors can experiment with suspended installations to push the boundaries of traditional art forms and offer unique experiences for viewers. - **Event and Exhibition Design:** Designers specializing in event and exhibition spaces can explore the use of suspended installations to create memorable and visually striking environments. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate the concept of weightlessness and floating installations to bring an element of surprise and intrigue to interior spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Water Movement Sculptural Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inner-waves.md) - [Wonderous Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [Monumental Air Installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iwagumi-air-scape.md) - [Ambient Atmospheric Music Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-stolper.md) - [Gas Rig Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/striking-art-installation.md) - [Suspended Lighting Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/suspended-lighting-installation.md) - [Interactive Kinetic Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-kinetic-sculptures.md) - [Immersive Light Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md)
