# Foreboding Forest Photography The Forests of Romania Shot by PhotoCosma is Eerily Alluring By Andrew Robertson | Published 2012-06-30 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/photocosma References: [thisiscolossal](http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2012/06/the-surreal-forests-of-romania/) & [photocosma](http://www.photocosma.com/) Simultaneously eerie and enchanting, the forests of Romania photographed by brothers Andrei and Sergiu Cosma of PhotoCosma is a collection of beautiful shots of a captivating environment. While the pictures are intriguing to look at, one's impression of the photographed environment may change should they find themselves in the middle of [the Romanian forest](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-house-1). A haunting overtone encompasses these images making it look as if this were the real [Sleepy Hollow](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/draculas-hotel) or the location of the Blair Witch Project. The majority of the pictures are absent of any digital manipulation, with the exception of the oversized hands coming out of a hollow tree trunk (I at least hope that's an example of [graphic manipulation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1)). The majority of the photographs are in black and white and do a fantastic job of capturing the essence of a tranquil yet ominous surrouding. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 69% | Activity: 64% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Eerie Photography:** Opportunity to create unique and haunting visuals that capture the viewer's attention. - **Enchanting Forests:** Potential to create immersive experiences that transport people into magical forest environments. - **Minimalistic Manipulation:** Possibility to experiment with simple digital manipulations to add intrigue and mystery to photographs. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Photography:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to create and market eerie and enchanting forest-themed photography as a unique niche. - **Tourism:** Potential to develop forest-based tourism experiences that capitalize on the allure of eerie and enchanting forest environments. - **Art and Design:** Opportunity for artists and designers to explore minimalistic manipulation techniques to create captivating and thought-provoking visuals. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Horror-Themed Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unique-stays-club.md) - [Artful Elevated Timber Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/secret-camp.md) - [Countryside Woodland Cabin Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aralar-cottage.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [Gabled Forest-Side Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frame-house-1.md) - [Chilling Filmic Scents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heretic-parfum-nosferatu.md) - [Chalk Streams Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/british-conceptual-landscape-photographer.md) - [A-Frame Forest Tranquil Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prez-palacios-arquitectos-asociados.md) - [Immersive Digital Forests](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/teamlab-1.md)
