# Fluorescent Plumbing Fixtures The Phosphorescent Bathroom Glows Brightly for Nighttime Use By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-10-03 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phosphorescent-bathroom References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2013/10/03/aurora-lights-in-my-tub/) & [bathroominnovation.au](http://bathroominnovation.com.au/) Here's a different solution to illuminating your bathroom for successful visits to toilet during the night: the phosphorescent bathroom. No [nightlight](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/night-light-projectors) or dimmer would be necessary to help guide your drowsy and stumbling self into the right spot, for these products emit their own glow. Deb Wallace entered this design into the 2013 Reece Bathroom Innovation Awards, and it's pretty compelling. The proposal suggests the use of phosphorescence in the materials that make the rim of the bathtub, the edge of the sink basin, the [toilet seat](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-toilets) and the faucets and flushers. During the daytime hours, the pieces would soak up the sun's rays through the washroom window and the phosphorescent bathroom set would begin to radiate neon green in the evening and last for up to eight hours. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 93% | Activity: 88% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Phosphorescent Materials:** Exploring the use of phosphorescent materials in various products and applications. - **Illuminated Fixtures:** The rise of illuminated fixtures for practical and aesthetic purposes. - **Sustainable Lighting:** The trend towards using natural light sources to power lighting fixtures. ### Where This Applies - **Bathroom Fixtures:** Innovations in bathroom fixtures and design. - **Home Decor:** Exploring new ways to incorporate lighting into home decor. - **Sustainable Design:** Innovations in sustainable design and eco-friendly materials. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Glow-in-the-Dark Prescription Bottles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glowing-relief.md) - [Illuminated Base Bathroom Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antoniolupi-albumelux.md) - [Glow-in-the-Dark Water Bottles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glow-in-the-dark-water-bottle.md) - [Glow-in-the-Dark Sushi Bars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glow-in-the-dark-sushi-bar.md) - [Soft Bathroom Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pastello-collection.md) - [Indoor Gardening Glowing Petunias](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firefly-petunia.md) - [Daylight-Responsive Brick Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luminescent-bricks.md) - [Glowing Water Bottles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glowyld-collection.md) - [Glow-in-the-Dark Blinds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glow-in-the-dark-blinds.md)
