# Simplified Phone Call Apps The PhoneTag App Lets You Send Pictures with Attached Voice Messages By Michael Hines | Published 2014-01-10 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phonetag-app References: [laughingsquid](http://laughingsquid.com/phonetag-an-app-for-sending-brief-voice-messages-and-photos-in-lieu-of-phone-calls/) & [itunes.apple](https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/phonetag-messenger/id786664021?ls=1&mt=8) Those who can't be bothered to make a time call will love the PhoneTag app. This app is designed to make phone calls infinitely easier by eliminating the whole talking part. Instead, all you do is record a [voice message](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/honey-voice) and send a picture. The app is free to download for iOS and has a wonderfully simple interface. The PhoneTag app is almost a combination of Voxer (a walkie-talkie app) and [Snapchat](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/noteit) (the temporary photo-sending app) in that it combines short audio messages with pictures. While the PhoneTag app may not replace [traditional phone calls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/answering-machine) altogether, it seems like a great middle ground between sending a text message and making a phone call. Some bits of information are too long to text but too short to call, and sometimes you just want to send pictures with hilarious audio captions. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.8/10 - Popularity: 8% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Voice Messaging:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore voice messaging as a simpler alternative to phone calls. - **Image-based Communication:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop apps that combine pictures with audio messages for more engaging communication. - **Middle Ground Communication:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create solutions that bridge the gap between text messaging and phone calls for more flexible communication. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Mobile App Development:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Build intuitive apps that simplify phone calls and enhance communication experiences. - **Messaging and Chat Apps:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate voice messaging and image-based communication features into existing messaging apps. - **Communication Technology:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new ways to improve communication by combining voice messages and pictures. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Real-Time Translator Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/babelphone.md) - [Fake Message Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phone-gags.md) - [Effortless Call Recording Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/voicehub.md) - [Visual Chat Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/picnow.md) - [Effortless Email Voice Messaging](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beep-for-gmail.md) - [Screen-Recording Messaging Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/video-messaging-platform.md) - [Speech-to-Text Notes Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/talk2note.md) - [Global Phone Call Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/virtual-phone-number1.md) - [Voice Recording Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/honey-voice.md)
