# Phones That Repel Mosquitoes By Ayman | Published 2008-07-15 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phones-rebel-mosquitoes References: [news.bbc](http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/3063401.stm) A South Korean telecommunication company is offering its customers an innovative solution to [rebel mosquitoes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nitecore-nwl30): using their [mobile phones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fix-my-phone-speakers). For about $2.50, the company will allow you to play a sound wave file that rebels mosquitoes within a range of one meter, without being heard by human ears. The sound is similar to the buzz of a male mosquito, which turns the [blood-sucking female mosquito](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/off-active-insect-repellent) off and drives her away. I hope the file makes it to the Internet soon so people can play it for free. Charging $2.5 per play (not per download) is simply outrageous. Even iTunes charges $0.99 per song download. And some of these songs can be very annoying. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 25% | Activity: 52% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Mosquito-repelling Technology:** Innovative solutions that protect people from mosquitos and other pests using technology. - **Mobile Phone Audio Applications:** Development of audio applications for mobile phones with practical uses. - **Affordable Pest Control:** More cost-effective and accessible ways for people to protect themselves from pests. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Telecommunications:** Companies within the telecommunications industry have the opportunity to develop and market audio solutions for mosquito control. - **Mobile App Development:** Opportunities exist for mobile app developers to create innovative solutions for pest control using audio technology. - **Pest Control Services:** Companies within the pest control industry have the opportunity to explore more cost-effective and technologically-based solutions for pest control. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Rechargeable Bug-Repelling Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mosquito-repellent-device.md) - [Paper-Based Mosquito Repellents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paperbased-mosquito-repellent.md) - [Handheld Wearable Mosquito Repellers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mosquito-repeller-lantern.md) - [Chemical-Free Mosquito Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mosqitter-mini.md) - [AI-Powered Mosquito Protectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bzigo-iris.md) - [Laser-Powered Mosquito Zappers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/photon-matrix.md) - [Intelligent Anti-Mosquito Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thermacell-liv-smart-system.md) - [4-in-1 Mosquito Repellants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moziguard.md) - [Battery-Powered Mosquito Misters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/npd-products.md)
