The cameras on most new phones now are pretty top notch in terms of quality and Thefties makes use of forward-facing cameras and in the case of suspicious activity, it will snap a picture of the possible perpetrator. If there's any kind of strange activity detected, such as numerous tries to enter a password, or removing the phone's SIM card, Lookout sends phone owners a Theft Alert, which includes a photo and location so that they can hand the information over to the authorities and make a report about the incident. Thefties can be used with both Android and [Apple](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phonitor) devices as part of Lookout's protection plans. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 66% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Phone Thief Selfie Systems:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop phone security systems that utilize forward-facing cameras to capture photos of possible phone thieves. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Mobile Security:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Enhance mobile security software with Thefties feature to provide users with evidence in case of phone theft. - **Surveillance Technology:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create surveillance systems that integrate with phone security software to capture photos of phone thieves in real-time. - **Law Enforcement:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborate with mobile security companies to incorporate Thefties feature into law enforcement databases for faster identification of phone thieves. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Pocket-Sized Safety Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gaze.md) - [Anti-Theft Phone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unsnatchable-phone-case.md) - [Compact Body Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compact-body-camera.md) - [Anti-Stalking App Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tile.md) - [Confidentiality-Centric Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/confidentiality-hightech-smartphone.md) - [Location-Aware Security Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/revolut-street-mode.md) - [External Photo-Taking Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/google-9.md) - [Security-Enhancing Phone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cirotta-case.md) - [Mobile Security Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phonitor.md)
