Affordable TV streaming plans are finally becoming a reality thanks to the Philo TV streaming service. While Philo contains the same technology as Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, [DirecTV](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mysports-directv) Now or [YouTube](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xumo) TV, it is very different in what it offers. Instead of trying to replace a full cable subscription, Philo TV offers a smaller collection of channels, resulting in a lower monthly subscription cost. While there are some trade-offs in this smaller collection, this new service does strip away some bloated material and focuses on sought-after cable channels.

In addition to live and on-demand content, Philo will also offer free cloud DVR, which usually comes as a paid service from many other providers. There is no cap on recorded material, though recordings will only remain for 30 days. Philo TV streaming is currently available on [Roku TV](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/philips-roku-tvs), a web browser and on mobile devices.
