# Springy Public Seats Philly Pods are Designed to Help Philadelphians Relax By Michael Hines | Published 2010-08-18 | World Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/philly-pods References: [tuvie](http://www.tuvie.com/philly-pods-will-give-comfortable-seating-and-unique-aesthetics-to-philadelphia-street/) Philly Pods are a contemporary public seating concept designed by Arman Chowdhury to let Philadelphians take a load off in style. These seats are [springy and can be customized](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bay-work-pod) to light up internally. Philly Pods are a great alternative to the public seating usually found in most American cities. Choosing between a [bus stop bench](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/traffic-light-bench) and the curb is equivocal to having to pick either Beemer, Benz, or Bentley. **Implications** - Everyone needs to relax and I can not think of a better place to initiate this campaign than the city of brotherly love. Just one more reason to make that trip to Philadelphia that you have been planning. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 22% | Activity: 40% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [World](https://www.trendhunter.com/world) > [Regional](https://www.trendhunter.com/regional) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Springy Public Seats:** Public seating is evolving to be more comfortable and customizable, allowing for more relaxation in public spaces. - **Contemporary Public Seating Concepts:** Designers are expanding the possibilities for public seating, creating visually appealing and functional alternatives to traditional seating options. - **Customizable Space Design:** Customizable seating options with lighting features offer innovative opportunities for designing public spaces for comfort and aesthetic appeal. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Urban Planning and Development:** Innovative public seating concepts offer opportunities for urban planners to improve public spaces and provide more comfort for city dwellers. - **Interior Design and Architecture:** Customizable seating options with lighting features offer innovative opportunities for interior designers and architects to create unique and welcoming spaces. - **Public Transportation:** The evolution of public seating options represents a disruptive innovation opportunity for public transportation networks to improve passenger experience and comfort. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Pod-Inspired Bulbous Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pod-collection.md) - [Playful Public Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-public-seating.md) - [Adaptive Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adp-bench.md) - [Self-Defence Tubular Inflatable Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/street-seat.md) - [Modern Cushioned Outdoor Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pod-outdoor-seating.md) - [Interaction-Promoting Public Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bench-seating.md) - [Tranquil Reading Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapters-furniture.md) - [Collapsible Posture Support Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ergonomic-portable-seat.md) - [City-Honoring Furniture Projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/symbiotic-urban-furniture-project.md)
