# Felony-Inspired Door Handles Modern Fingerprint Embossed Lever by Philip Watts By Elsa Blaine | Published 2009-08-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/philip-watts-fingerprint-door-lever References: [trendir](http://www.trendir.com/archives/003704.html) & [philipwattsdesign](http://www.philipwattsdesign.com/) Usually the only time you see obvious fingerprints on a door handle is when the police have dusted after a crime. However this ultra-modern stainless-steel lever by Philip Watts makes digit impressions part of a hip design. The handle is comprised of two simple but sleek intersecting brushed steel rods, the larger one deeply embossed with four fingerprint indentations. Philip Watts' [fingerprint door lever](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outdoor-fingerprint-padlock) would be a fun felony-inspired addition to a [contemporary home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/milda-evolve-door) or perhaps an ironic touch to a bank entrance. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.6/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 60% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Fingerprint Technology:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing advanced fingerprint recognition systems for enhanced security measures in various industries. - **Crime-inspired Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating unique and unconventional designs inspired by crime-related themes to cater to the growing demand for edgy and unconventional aesthetics. - **Personalized Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Offering customizable home decor products that allow individuals to make a personal statement through unique and eccentric designs. ### Where This Applies - **Security Systems:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrating fingerprint recognition technology into security systems to provide seamless and foolproof access control solutions. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Exploring unconventional design elements inspired by crime motifs to cater to avant-garde interior design trends in residential and commercial spaces. - **Decorative Hardware:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Designing and manufacturing unique, fingerprint-inspired door handles and other decorative hardware pieces that combine functionality with artistic expression. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Door Hardware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edge-door-handle.md) - [Biometric Bank-Grade Door Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/securam-touch.md) - [Tubular Handle Smart Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lockly-styla.md) - [Hands-Free Door Handle Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/safe-lever-door-opener.md) - [Palm-Recognizing Smart Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-deadbolt.md) - [Smart Matter-Enabled Door Handles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aqara-smart-lock-u300.md) - [Domed Door Knob Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/h03-knob-on-half-moon.md) - [Interior Push-Pull Door Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anylock-milda.md) - [Palm Recognition Smart Deadbolts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wifi-palm-recognition-smart-deadbolt.md)
