# Silkworm-Inspired Lamps Phantom Lighting by Simon Legald Blends Soft Texture with Sculptural Glow By Amy Duong | Published 2025-08-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phantom-lighting References: [normann-copenhagen](https://www.normann-copenhagen.com/en/Products/Lighting/Floor-Lamps/Phantom-610027) The Phantom lighting collection includes both a table and floor lamp inspired by the cocoon-like structure of silkworm nests. Designed by [Simon Legald](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/burra) for Normann [Copenhagen](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-solids-1), each piece features layers of [translucent resin threads](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marten-herma-anderson) sprayed around a steel frame. The fibers create a soft, organic shell that diffuses light with a calm, ambient quality. Instead of a visible bulb, an LED pipe runs through the center, hidden from view to preserve the sculptural silhouette. The lighting is dimmable using a discreet foot switch, making it versatile for both relaxed and focused settings. The resin application method produces less material waste than traditional casting, aligning with more sustainable production goals. With its soft form, warm illumination, and mindful craftsmanship, Phantom blurs the line between art object and functional design. It offers a minimal yet emotionally rich statement piece for modern interiors.
