You might be wondering, "Are you serious? But isn't that telescope huge?" Yes, it is huge, and yes, he built a life-sized telescope. What is neat about this whole thing is the telescope is [made out of wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lingosat). I have to hand it to Peter Hennessey for his time and effort because I know I have little time on my hands to build something massive like this. You can check out this telescope if you're in Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 34% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Homemade Wooden Telescopes:** Opportunity for DIY enthusiasts to explore disruptive innovation in the field of telescope manufacturing using sustainable and unconventional materials. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Manufacturing:** Potential for a new market segment in the telescope industry targeting eco-conscious consumers seeking unique and sustainable products. - **DIY Hobby:** Emerging market for DIY hobbyists interested in building their own telescopes using unconventional materials. - **Tourism:** Possibility of creating a niche market for telescope tourism, allowing travelers to visit homemade wooden telescopes and experience unique stargazing experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [High-Power Palm-Sized Telescopes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/konsivy-pro.md) - [Modular Space Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/space-exploration-telescope.md) - [Smartphone-Powered Telescopes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vaonis-hestia.md) - [4K Smart Telescopes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/4k-smart-telescopes.md) - [Intelligent Connected Telescope Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/decouvir-telescope.md) - [Automated Algorithm-Powered Telescopes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-space-telescope.md) - [Digital Book-Style Telescopes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dwarf-iii.md) - [Kid-Friendly Telescopes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leapfrog-magic-adventures-telescope.md) - [Rooftop-Mounted Space Telescopes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/celestron-origin.md)
