The new service utilizes i-chip technology, a small, non-invasive microchip that can be inserted into pets. Once inserted, the innovative technology contains a registered identification of the pet as well as its owner. In addition, the chip will provide details regarding each pet's vaccination history and come equipped with a [thermal heat feature](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fompet), which will make it easier for vets to read a pet's condition using a thermal scanner. Overall, the new initiative aims to leverage this innovative technology to help monitor and detect various illnesses in pets, such as rabies. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.8/10 - Popularity: 7% | Activity: 5% | Freshness: 13% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/pets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Pet Identification Technology:** The development of new microchip technology allows for more non-invasive and efficient animal identification, presenting opportunities for veterinary clinics and animal shelters to adopt these new tools. - **Pet Health Monitoring:** As more technologies come to market that allow for health monitoring and disease detection in pets, there is a significant potential market for pet healthcare providers and pet owners alike to take advantage of these new capabilities. - **Municipal Pet Welfare Programs:** With the success of Pasig City's Pet Identification Project, other municipalities are likely to follow and implement new programs aimed at supporting pet owners and promoting animal welfare. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Veterinary Services:** The new i-chip technology presents an opportunity for veterinary clinics to offer new services to their clients, such as regular health monitoring and vaccination tracking. - **Animal Shelters:** Implementing new pet identification technology can help animal shelters manage and track their animals more efficiently, and may even reduce their euthanasia rates. - **Smart Pet Gadgets:** With i-chip technology already being developed, there is potential for the creation of new smart pet gadgets such as health monitors and feeding systems, giving pet owners a new level of control and awareness over their pets' wellbeing. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Lost Pet Microchip Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/el-paso-animal-services.md) - [Programmable Microchip Pet Feeders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-microchip-pet-feeder.md) - [Lost Pet ID Tags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/one-pet-id.md) - [Smart Wearable Pet Trackers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gochip.md) - [Modern Pet Tagging](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qr-tag-system.md) - [Pet Health-Monitoring Technologies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pet-health-monitoring.md) - [QR Code Pet Tags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pawscout.md) - [Digital Canine Caretakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pupfi.md) - [QR-Code Pet Tracking Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ring-pet-tag.md)
