# Levitating Bike Mounts Suspend Your Wheels on 'Perch' & Enjoy the Extra Space By Matt Ho | Published 2011-09-21 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perch References: [coolmaterial](http://coolmaterial.com/rides/perch/) & [clankworks](http://clankworks.com/#perch) Since not everyone has a garage to hold their bikes in, space is becoming a hot commodity, which is why 'Perch' is a great storage solution. Perch is a simple, minimalist rack by ClankWorks that functions as a dock for your bike without taking up too much space. It's constructed from four separate layers into a single piece of laminated plywood that is then mounted onto a wall. This will accommodate bikes at a weight between 40-50lbs and tires up to 2.0 inches. Because of the ridges at the top and its S-shape design, additional storage is available for helmets, keys and other small items. Another convenience is the walk space created since the bike is levitated against a wall. Perch is limited to 50 items only, with 20 available by mid-October. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 57% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Sports](https://www.trendhunter.com/sports) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Minimalist Bike Storage:** Opportunity for businesses to create sleek and space-saving storage solutions for bicycles. - **Creative Wall Mounts:** Businesses have the opportunity to create unique and artistic wall mounts that offer functionality and style for bike storage. - **Innovative Bike Racks:** Rack manufacturers can innovate by developing bike-storage options that provide both storage solutions and serve as decor pieces. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Decor:** Home decor businesses can incorporate stylish bike racks into their product lines to appeal to bike enthusiasts and urban dwellers. - **Bicycle Retail:** Bicycle retailers can offer minimalist and unique bike storage options for customers who live in compact urban spaces. - **Commercial Real Estate:** Commercial real estate businesses can attract bike-commuter tenants by offering creative and functional bike storage options in their buildings. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Compact Bike Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hangar-connect.md) - [Tri-Functional Bicycle Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trifunctional-bicycle-rack.md) - [Compact Cyclist Car Mounts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightbull-rack.md) - [Modular Bike Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sonder-x-skarper.md) - [Horizontal Automotive Bike Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ktop-bike-rack.md) - [Foldable Flatpack Bike Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ahha-toaster-bike-rack.md) - [Dual Bike Repair Lifts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dual-bike-lift.md) - [Handlebar Bike Gear Clips](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gear-clip.md) - [Multipurpose Bike Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/almada-work.md)
