# Party-Pooping Police Blogs (UPDATE) The ‘Pepper Spraying Cop' Tumblr Curates the Infam By Jason Soy | Published 2011-11-24 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pepper-spraying-cop References: [jamieintheskywithdiamonds.tumblr](http://jamieintheskywithdiamonds.tumblr.com/post/13147563419/peppersprayingcop-here-at-the-university-of) & [peppersprayingcop.tumblr](http://peppersprayingcop.tumblr.com/) It’s only been days since the UC Davis incident occurred involving law enforcers attacking peaceful demonstrators, but already a ‘Pepper Spraying Cop’ Tumblr has emerged to parody the event. Superimposing a popular image of the police officer onto random pop culture images, the quirky satirical blog is bringing the laughs while simultaneously drawing attention to the police force’s abuse of self-defense equipment. Adding to the hilarity of the ‘Pepper Spraying Cop’ Tumblr is the fact that each image has dialog spoken by the people within each respective picture before said Pepper Spraying Cop arrives to ruin the party. These narrations usually abruptly end with a slew of unintelligible letters which replicate the sounds victims make as they are being attacked by the inconsiderate cop. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.5/10 - Popularity: 94% | Activity: 94% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/media) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Satirical Parody Blogs:** Exploring the potential for satirical parody blogs to draw attention to social and political issues while providing entertainment. - **Recontextualizing Popular Images:** Examining the trend of recontextualizing popular images to create humorous and thought-provoking narratives. - **Critiquing Law Enforcement Practices:** Analyzing the rise of online platforms that critique and expose instances of police abuse and misconduct. ### Who This Affects Most - **Entertainment:** Identifying opportunities for entertainment platforms to collaborate with satirical blogs to create engaging content. - **Digital Media:** Exploring the potential for digital media platforms to curate and amplify the reach of satirical and critical content. - **Social Activism:** Expanding the use of online platforms to support social activism by providing a space for public critique and awareness. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Positive Social Media Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tumblr-campaign.md) - [Police Filming Awareness Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/get-real-movement.md) - [Novelty Polling Websites](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/funnypoll.md) - [Internet Humor News](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-daily-snoo.md) - [Collaborative Policing Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/policing-app.md) - [Viral Criminal Merchandise](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/i-can-fix-him.md) - [Drug-Themed April Fool's Gags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/innocean-berlin.md) - [Social Justice Networking Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reyets-app.md) - [Anti-Gender Violence Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antigender-violence-campaign.md)
