# Overzealous Authority Memes The Casually Pepper Spray Everything Cop is Famous on the Web By Nikolai Paterak | Published 2011-11-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pepper-spray References: [knowyourmeme](http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/casually-pepper-spray-everything-cop) The ‘Occupy’ protesters at [University of California Davis](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/campus-beautification) had a particularly rough day this past Friday, November 18th, but Internet justice is doing its best to set things straight with the Casually Pepper Spray Everything Cop meme. While ‘the man’ was busy breaking up the protest that day, a few overzealous police officers took liberties with their pepper spray canisters by blanketing protesters who were huddled in a line and already peaceful; however, a few overzealous Internet users took liberties with Photoshop, making it appear that the cop in question uses pepper spray through history. These works of art are fondly dubbed the Casually Pepper Spray Everything Cop. The guilty officer Lieutenant Pike has been spotted indiscriminately using pepper spray on great works of art, national monuments and even the US Constitution. Whether you agree with their cause or not, the ‘Occupy’ protesters are facing a tough road ahead around the world. Hopefully the same is true for officials who abuse human rights. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.1/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 76% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Customization](https://www.trendhunter.com/customization) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Internet Justice:** Opportunities for creating viral memes to bring attention and justice to unjust acts. - **Photoshop Art:** Opportunities for creative manipulation of images to create humorous or satirical content. - **Protest Power:** Opportunities for activists to leverage social media and online platforms to highlight their cause and rally support. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Social Media:** Opportunities for social media platforms to establish guidelines and policies to address the spread of viral memes and ensure responsible usage. - **Digital Art:** Opportunities for artists and designers to utilize digital platforms and tools to create unique and engaging content. - **Activism:** Opportunities for organizations and individuals to leverage online platforms for organizing and advocating for social and political causes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Viral Criminal Merchandise](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/i-can-fix-him.md) - [Police Filming Awareness Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/get-real-movement.md) - [Anti-Gender Violence Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antigender-violence-campaign.md) - [Illustrative 420 Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/420-campaign.md) - [Social Justice Networking Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reyets-app.md) - [Meme-Inspired Sauces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sauce-drops.md) - [Empowering Watermark Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/online-rights.md) - [Drug-Themed April Fool's Gags](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/innocean-berlin.md) - [Snack Artwork Auctions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mischief-by-chester.md)
