# Song-Playing Scrawlers Pendio by Yeongkeun Jeong Provides Audio Entertainment While You Write By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-01-23 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pendio-by-yeongkeun-jeong References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Pendio/3806525) & [yeongkeun](http://www.yeongkeun.com/works) So long as you have your Pendio by Yeongkeun Jeong, you don't really need to carry your [iPod](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ipod-classic-fidget) or your tablet around for entertainment. The unassuming device isn't simply a [writing utensil](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/p3n-pen), its core comprises some [tiny electronic components](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fuseproject) in addition to its tube of ink. When viewed from one side, you might likely mistake the implement for a pencil. It's carved beautifully from wood and integrates a very fine metal tip that could look much like a sharpened end of graphite. One section of the apparatus does reveal its unexpected second function. A numbered strip and a small red marker become indicators that the Pendio by Yeongkeun Jeong operates as a radio. Turn the dial to select your favorite frequency and listen to music while you make notes. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 11% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Inventions](https://www.trendhunter.com/inventions) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Multifunctional Writing Utensils:** The trend of integrating additional features into writing utensils such as radios creates opportunities for innovative and convenient entertainment solutions. - **Seamless Integration of Electronics:** The trend of seamlessly integrating electronic components into everyday objects like writing utensils allows for new and unexpected functionalities. - **Portable Entertainment Devices:** The trend of creating compact and portable devices that provide entertainment on-the-go opens up possibilities for new product categories. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Stationery:** The stationery industry can explore new product designs that integrate entertainment features, such as radios, into writing utensils. - **Electronics:** The electronics industry can capitalize on the trend by developing innovative ways to seamlessly integrate electronic components into various everyday objects. - **Consumer Electronics:** The consumer electronics industry has the opportunity to create new product categories focused on portable entertainment devices that offer convenience and versatility. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Distraction-Free Digital Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/micro-journal.md) - [Gamified Writing Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otona-no-yaruki-pen.md) - [Multifunctional Compact Music Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playdisc.md) - [Unique Writing Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graphite-paintbrush-writing-instrument.md) - [Floating Futuristic Writing Utensils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/levitating-pen.md) - [Striking Writing Tool Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zenith7-desk-pen.md) - [Mindful Writing Ritual Pens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qui-magnetic-pencil-system.md) - [Music-Playing Book Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-book-stand.md) - [Recycled Plastic Writing Utensils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mechanical-drop-pencil.md)
