The series features a collection of technicolor works of abstract art. Eatock has a rather minimalistic and simple process when it comes to making art that might remind some of us of our elementary school days. Eatock begins by using [high-quality Letraset Promarker pens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zenith7-desk-pen) to create sporadic bursts of color on [everyday typing paper](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti). The sheets of paper are then folded several times in on themselves allowing the inky pen color to leak between the sheets creating [mirror images](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zigzag-collection). When the sheets are unfolded, the artist is left with a hypnotic symmetrical work of art filled with bleeding blobs of color ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Symmetry in Art:** Daniel Eatock's use of symmetry in his Pen Paintings series presents a disruptive innovation opportunity in creating unique and balanced compositions. - **Innovative Use of Pen and Ink:** The bleeding texture of Letraset Promarker pens used by Eatock offers a disruptive innovation opportunity in creating dynamic textures and effects in other industries like graphic design or crafting. - **DIY Art:** The simplicity of Eatock's process presents a disruptive innovation opportunity in creating DIY art kits for children or adults interested in creating their own symmetrical works of art. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Design:** Eatock's Pen Paintings series presents a disruptive innovation opportunity in bringing symmetry and minimalism to the world of art and design. - **Stationery and Art Supplies:** The innovative use of Letraset Promarker pens by Eatock presents a disruptive innovation opportunity in creating new and dynamic art supplies for stationery stores. - **Crafting and Home Decor:** The DIY nature of Eatock's Pen Paintings presents a disruptive innovation opportunity in creating DIY art projects for home decor or crafting industries. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Digital Ink Pens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorpik-pen.md) - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Paper Curvature Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-curves.md) - [Pattern-Drawing Dual-Tip Pens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colored-curve-pens.md) - [Leftover Househouse Paint Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paint-drop.md) - [Kinetic Art Wristwatches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/type-8-daniel-engelberg.md) - [Transparent Fountain Pens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maze.md) - [Graffiti-Inspired Marker Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graffitiinspired-marker-set.md) - [Sculptural Writing Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/experimental-pencils.md)
