# GIF-Centric Robot Helpers The Peeqo Robot Responds to User Requests with GIFs By Joey Haar | Published 2017-01-10 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peeqo References: [techcrunch](https://techcrunch.com/2017/01/09/peeqo-is-a-robot-that-responds-entirely-in-gifs/?ncid=rss) & [peeqo](http://peeqo.com/) Personal assistant robots like the [Amazon](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alexa-suite) [Alexa](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ultraloq-smart-home-locks) and Google Assistant can respond to vocal commands, but the Peeqo robot offers similar functionality with a clever and fun twist. Peeqo is a smart home assistant that responds to voice commands solely with cleverly selected GIFs. The Peeqo robot was designed by Abhishek Singh, a graduate of [NYU's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/turboquant-compression) ITP program, and the bot is his thesis project. It consists of the software that both controls smart home devices and generates GIFs and the hardware of the bot itself. That hardware consists of a camera and HD screen mounted on a movable system meant to look like a neck. When not generating GIFs, the screen displays a pair of cute eyes framed by spectacles. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 17% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [AI](https://www.trendhunter.com/ai) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Gif-centric Robotics:** Opportunity for developing robots that respond to user commands with GIFs. - **Smart Home Assistants:** Opportunity for integrating GIF functionality into existing personal assistant robots. - **Interactive AI Technologies:** Opportunity for AI systems to engage with users through visual and interactive responses. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Consumer Electronics:** Opportunity for consumer electronics manufacturers to incorporate GIF-based responses in their products. - **Software Development:** Opportunity for software developers to create platforms and APIs for generating and integrating GIFs in robotics. - **Creative Design:** Opportunity for designers to create visually appealing and interactive robot hardware. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [AI-Enhanced Personal Assistants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wehead-1.md) - [AI-Fuelled GIF Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-gif.md) - [AI-Fueled Smart Home Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-agent.md) - [Desktop GIF Displayers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cyber-cube.md) - [Interactive Desktop Robot Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eilik-companion-robot.md) - [Personable Voice-Powered AI Assistants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mia1.md) - [Emotional AI-Powered Robot Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-robot-pet.md) - [Holographic AI Assistant Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-holobox.md) - [Personalized AI Assistants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/personalized-ai-assistant.md)
