# Paring Lumber Clothes Pegs The Peel Coatrack Resembles a Shedding Husk to Supply Handy Hooks By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-01-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peel-coatrack References: [leibal](http://leibal.com/furniture/peel/) & [oato.nl](http://www.oato.nl/2013_peel.html) As far as [arboreal-inspired coat racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aghsan) go, the Peel Coatrack was developed with a different kind of aesthetic approach. Instead of featuring a slender trunk and [twig and branch-like pegs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hayashi-cabinet), this piece has a sheath that resembles pared back bark, offering places to hang several garments. Designed by Oato, the Peel Coatrack appears to have been made almost exclusively from [birch plywood from Finland](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/classic-collection), giving its timber form that signature crisp minimalism that is distinctly Scandinavian in style. There are six round-tipped strips that curl gently away from the upright post, inviting you to store bags, hats, jackets, outerwear and all sorts of other articles. Its clean look complements its purpose of dealing with household clutter. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 29% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Arboreal-inspired Coat Racks:** Creating coat racks inspired by trees allows for unique and aesthetically pleasing designs. - **Minimalist Scandinavian Design:** Exploring minimalist Scandinavian design in furniture and home decor can provide a clean and sleek aesthetic. - **Innovative Storage Solutions:** Developing innovative storage solutions for household clutter helps in organizing and maintaining a clean living space. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Furniture designers can explore arboreal-inspired coat racks as a new product category. - **Home Decor:** Home decor brands can incorporate minimalist Scandinavian design elements into their product lines. - **Organizational Products:** Companies specializing in organizational products can focus on creating innovative storage solutions for households. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Haute Cohesive Plywood Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peel-chair-by-blond.md) - [Chinese Character-Shaped Coat Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resting-coat-rack.md) - [Wall-Mounted Wall Rack](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/velto.md) - [Sporty Climbing-Inspired Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grip-hanger.md) - [Thin-Wood Clothing Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/charity-hanger.md) - [Living Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treevive.md) - [Open-Concept Clothing Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bauhutte-clothes-hanger-rack.md) - [Single-Piece Wooden Magazine Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skola.md) - [Envelope-Style Shoe Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shoe-storage-rack.md)
